Qatar Airways is a bit in the shithouse right now (for most people) with their recent award changes making it harder to book for anyone other than yourself (details on my blog post here). However, Qatar recently launched a monthly award promos option that can reduce the cost of an award flight by 25%! Here’s a direct link to current monthly promotions. If you’re a solo traveler, or someone who is able to unlock adding people to one of Qatar’s lists so you can book for yourself + others, then this program has certainly gotten better in the last few months.
Qatar Privilege Club monthly promotions
This appears to be a new development where Qatar is offering discounts on award flights (probably on somewhat empty flights). This monthly promotion includes discounts on both economy and business class awards on Qatar metal. If you book your starting or final destination to any of the monthly promo cities, you can get a 25% discount on points needed for your award flight. This is similar to award promotions from programs like Air France/KLM Flying Blue, Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer Spontaneous Escapes, Alaska Airlines’ Global Getaways, and Iberia periodically running promotions as well.
August 2026 promotions
The first round of promotions are from a handful of cities in Europe, Middle-East, and SE Asia. Here are the promotions. Book by August 14 for travel between August to September 30th.
Business class promotions
- Riyadh, Saudi Arabia
- Cairo, Egypt
- Colombo, Sri Lanka
- Jakarta, Indonesia
- Berlin, Germany
- Warsaw, Poland
Economy promotions
- Riyadh, Saudi Arabia
- Amman, Jordan
- Munich, Germany
- Geneva, Switzerland
- Larnaca, Cyprus
Discount applies to whole trip
Although the discount is between multiple cities to and from Doha, if you connect through Doha to another final destination, you can still get the 25% discount. For example, Berlin to Doha in business class can be booked for as low as 32.25k points each way (saver is 43k points).
You can fly beyond Doha as well and still get that 25% discount to the pricing as long as the starting or ending destination is one of the promotion cities. See below Berlin-Doha-Mahe, Seychelles bookable for 48.75k points (saver is 65k points).
The discount also applies for peak award pricing as well. There’s a last-minute flight between New York (JFK) to Jakarta (CGK) that would normally cost 120k points per person, but with the 25% discount to CGK, makes it 90k points per person.
