Book Singapore Airlines award flights through Air Canada
In my opinion, booking a Singapore Airlines business class flight through Air Canada’s Aeroplan program is one of the best deals in award travel. Whether it’s a New York (JFK) flight to or from Frankfurt (FRA) on Singapore Airlines’ fifth freedom route starting at 60k points to New York (EWR/JFK) to or from Singapore (SIN) for 87.5k points, there is value to be had!
This sweet spot disappeared in November 2025
After Singapore Airlines devalued enhanced its award program on November 1, 2025 and raised the cost of business and first class awards by 5-20%, it appeared that award availability through their partner Air Canada disappeared.
Booking Singapore Airlines through Air Canada, if available, is often a better deal. In addition to often having transfer bonuses (unlike Singapore Airlines), you can also buy Air Canada points for as low as ~1.33 cents per point. The costs are also better with Air Canada only requiring 60k points (74k for fully refundable) for a one-way business class flight between JFK-FRA vs. Singapore Airlines asking for 89k points for the same flight (still has $75 cancel fee and $25 change fee).
But it appears to be back!
On January 15, I started getting alerts from Seats.Aero (affiliate link) that there were Singapore Airlines awards between JFK/FRA and I saw a few dates between NYC and Singapore as well.
And there is a lot of availability between JFK/FRA!
I sent a deal (link to newsletter post) on January 15 highlighting pretty good availability between late January through April 2026. And as of today (January 17), there appears to be decent availability between mid-October through December 2026 as well! Great time to plan spring break trips, or plan ahead for visiting Europe over the winter including experiencing Christmas villages!

How to book the JFK/FRA route?
Search and book directly on the Air Canada or Singapore Airlines website. You’ll need to create and/or login to your frequent flyer account to search.
Air Canada: Starting at 60k points + $60-20 in tax/fees. Spend an extra 14k points to make the flight changeable/cancellable for free. Otherwise there is a $75 CAD for changes and $150 CAD to cancel per ticket.
Transfer Partners: Amex, Bilt, Capital One, Chase
Singapore Airlines: 89k points + $6-165 in tax/fees. $75 cancel fee or $25 change fee.
